I'm often asked about the actual science in the Professor's Secret. Some of the science is real and some is speculative . . . at best. While I do have a keen interest in science, my main interest is in exploring the arena of epistemology, cognitive blind spots, and the "scientific method."  While The Professor's Secret is primarily an adventure story, I hope it also sparks curiosity in young readers.

 

Learning about science can and should be both fun and challenging and works best, in my view, via critical thinking, a positive attitude, and healthy collaboration. Charlie, Jake, and Penny, for example, compliment each other in the story while demonstrating the need for both imagination and knowledge in learning how to overcome seemingly impossible adversity. Adventure is just around the corner . . . .
